What is QLeague Kids?
QLeague Kids is a free weekly sports and activity program for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We provide fun, inclusive, and adapted activities where every child can participate, stay active, and make friends.
Who runs QLeague Kids?
QLeague Kids was started and is run by four students at Queen’s University: Aaron Derfel, Josh Stern, Josh Wolgelerenter, and Zach Bordan. We have a team of student volunteers passionate about sports, inclusion, and working with children.
Do children need sports experience?
Not at all. QLeague is designed for all experience levels, including beginners. Activities are adapted to support every participant.
Are activities adapted for different needs?
Yes. Our staff modify games and rules to ensure activities are safe, engaging, and accessible for different abilities and comfort levels.
Can volunteers get involved?
Yes. We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are passionate about working with children and creating inclusive sports experiences. Contact us for more information.
Can I discuss my child's specific needs before registering?
Absolutely. We encourage families to contact us ahead of time so we can better support your child and create the best possible experience.
Can you provide one-on-one support?
Yes. We have many volunteers experienced in providing individualized support. We encourage parents to discuss with our volunteers how they can provide the best support possible.
Are parents required to stay?
No. Parents and guardians are encouraged to stay, especially for younger participants, but it is not required.
